The criteria for occupational disability are determined by the wording in your specific insurance policy. Often in the first two years you must be deemed unable to preform ones own job by reasons of medical or mental disability. Usually after two years, the criteria change to being unable to do any job for which you are reasonably qualified by way of education, training and experience. It is important to get a copy of your policy to determine the exact criteria that applies to you.
